Its history dates back to Magna Grecia. Cirò has 14 churches, a medieval castle and its historical center recalls events of late 1600.
The city has given birth to illustrious known as Luigi Lilio (inventor of the Gregorian calendar) and Saint Nicodemo Abbot (structure still present and can be visited).
In the center of town, inside the walls, there is the Peasant Museum and a media meet that describes the work of Lilio. After the visit, you can go to a local wine shop to taste the wines Cirò DOC, representing national excellence.
